Key Stats
Overview
Farnborough Airport is one of the UK’s most advanced business aviation hubs, operating within a 310-hectare (770-acre) estate, which accounts for approximately 8% of Rushmoor’s land area.
The site includes more than 240,000 sq ft of temperature-controlled hangar space, 35 acres of ramp parking and a 4,000 sq m terminal building.
Recent expansion included Domus III, a new 175,000 sq ft hangar supporting growing airside operations.
Norton was appointed as Farnborough Airport’s technical delivery partner in 20XX, providing full maintenance, compliance and project delivery across the estate, ensuring reliability, safety and operational excellence in a highly regulated environment.
Scope of Works
- Comprehensive mechanical, electrical, fire and security maintenance across hangars, terminal buildings, control tower and critical communication sites.
- Planned Preventive Maintenance (PPM), emergency callouts and ad-hoc project works.
- Four-hour response window for emergency callouts, tailored to airside operational requirements.
- Asset tracking and performance reporting through the SIMPro CAFM system for real-time KPI management.
Delivery Approach
Given the complexity of operating within a CAA-regulated environment, Norton implemented a dedicated multi-team delivery model to ensure flexibility, compliance and resilience:
All engineers hold GSAT airside training, airside driving licences and the highest level of security clearance.
A dedicated Team Lead coordinates daily operations and communication between Farnborough’s estates team and Norton’s engineers. Live tracking through SIMPro supports same-day and next-day KPI commitments with transparent reporting.
This structure ensures a transparent, adaptable service model that meets CAA standards and client-specific KPIs.
